MINUTES
TOWN OF STARK, VERNON COUNTY, WI
WEDNESDAY, December 19, 2007
STARK TOWN HALL

Meeting called to order by town chairman Brad Steinmetz at 7:00
p.m. All other elected officials present and they were Virgil Thomas
Jr. and Myron Richard of the town board, clerk Lonnie Muller and treasurer
Bonnie Potter.
Guests were Christel Stueckrad, Lois and Rich Milonczyk, and
Brian Copper.
Verification of proper posting of meeting was confirmed.
Motion by Richard, seconded by Thomas to approve last month's
minutes. All yes.
Motion by Thomas, seconded by Richard to approve financial report
and payment of bills but to only pay a portion of Scotts pertaining to
sealcoating.. All yes.
Citizen discussion period:
Informational reports: Steinmetz reports census forms are
here.
Old Business:
a. Update on comprehensive planning: The committee met last week
and formalized questionnaire and then had a computer training session at the
Reserve a couple of nights later.
b. FEMA update - another small check coming and then rest of work
needs to be done next summer.
c. Tax issue with county - Steinmetz met with county treasurer
twice plus the corporation counsel. He was told if taxes not collected than the
town pays.
d. Radio grant - still in the process but can order radios
anytime.
New business:
a. Appointment of election workers: Anna Richard, Mae Fronk, Inez Hagen,
Lois Milonczyk, Linda Thomas, Don Barr, Rich Milonczyk, and Sharon
Leatherberry.
b. New zoning administrator. Motion by Steinmetz, 2nd by
Thomas to hire Brian Copper. All yes.
c. Info on new fire trucks: There was a meeting a week ago
and the rural fire association approved purchasing two new trucks. 3 bids on
the chassis for tanker and La Farge Truck Center was lowest at $80,000. 2 bids
on chief van with low bid of $120,000 with winning bidder called Rosenbauer out
of Modina, South Dakota. Promises of no new tanker now for 5 years. Starks
share of trucks will be $40,500. We had $10,000 in budget for 07 and 08s for
fire truck. La Farge bank offering 4.9%. Will discuss further in January if we
can pay $20,000 up front.
d. Christmas gifts for employees: Motion to give $150 to
patrolmen and $35 to recycling manager.
9. Next agenda. Richard wants to talk about a wing on the
plow trucks.
Motion by Richard, 2nd by Thomas to adjourn. Adjourned at
7:55 p.m.
