Meeting called to order by town chairman Brad Steinmetz at 7:00 p.m. Other elected officials present: Dwain Jeffers and Myron Richard of the town board, treasurer Bonnie Potter and clerk Lonnie Muller.

 

 

 

Guests present who signed in were: Douglas Elmer, Christel Stueckrad, Tom McGee, Virgil Thomas Jr., Linda Thomas, Rich Milonczyk, Lois Milonczyk, Donald Barr, Charles Pasker, Anna Richard, Gary Leatherberry, Jim Haugh, Bruce Tosch, and David Wright..

 

 

 

Verification of proper posting of meeting was confirmed. Posting at Stark town hall, La Farge State Bank, La Farge post office, and bulletin board outside Bergum's Food Mart.

 

 

 

Motion by Jeffers, seconded by Richard to approve last month's minutes.

 

 

 

Motion by Jeffers, seconded by Richard to approve financial report and payment of bills.

 

 

 

Citizen discussion period: None

 

 

 

Informational reports:

 

a. Picnic results - around 60 in attendance - $163.67 for food and $100 for music. Have taken in $309.40 so far this year in sale of aluminum cans used to pay for picnic.

 

b. Comprehensive zoning meeting - another meeting Oct. 11 at KRMB building.

 

c. Cancelled as it relates to new business

 

d. Training classes for pollworkers at Viroqua - Mae Fronk, Anna Richard, Sharon Leatherberry and Lonnie Muller attended to learn about new voting machines.

 

e. Report of two new garages

 

f. Status of new truck - is in and paid for, borrowed money from bank at 4.75% until CDs expire in January. New truck will be taken to Centerville to have box put on. Maybe ready in 3 months or less.

 

g. Towns convention - Lonnie Muller going, Brad will decide.

 

h. Reminder of Oct. budget discussion.

 

 

 

Old business:

 

a. Housing block grant - state turned us down

 

b. Dog counter - none ever applied

 

c. Chuck Pasker appointed as alternate on zoning board. Recommended by chairman Steinmetz. Motion to approve by Richard, seconded by Jeffers, all yes.

 

d. Zoning board changes - place on next months agenda

 

e. Babb meeting - Steinmetz explained problems and they are being taken care of.

 

f. No word from Ho-Chunk nation concerning a payment from them

 

g. Update on assessor progress -still not done, Chapin reported he couldn't get into compliance. Clerk talked with district assessor supervisor and she said she had been working with Chapin the past two days and hoped to increase residential lot assessment to obtain compliance. Still might be a few weeks before books turned over to town from assessor.

 

h. NIMS update - Steinmetz has taken 100 and 700 class and town is certified. Earl Nelson has also qualified. Cindy Ackerman would like to see town have a emergency prepared plan.

 

 

 

New business:

 

a. Insurance man, David Wright, Rural Insurance, talked to board and offered several new plans and these will be added but look at next meeting to see if actually want them. Place on agenda for next month.

 

b. Fall cleanup is October 21st. Motion by Richard, seconded by Jeffers to have 1/2 price. All yes.

 

c. Comprehensive planning: Motion by Jeffers, 2nd by Richard to apply for grant with other municipalities. All yes.

 

d. Zoning: Motion by Richard, 2nd by Jeffers to approve zoning committee recommendation for Kavolik. All yes. Motion by Jeffers, 2nd by Richard to approve zoning committee recommendation for Clayton Thompson property. All yes. Motion by Jeffers, 2nd by Richard to approve zoning committee recommendation on tower height. All yes.

 

e. Motion by Richard, 2nd by Jeffers to a designate La Farge State Bank as official depository. All yes.

 

f. Motion by Jeffers, 2nd by Richard to approve contract with Humane Society on as need case. All yes.

 

 

 

Other info: 2 new road signs ordered: Wallace and Compton Road.

 

Salt has been ordered, $41 a ton, will have delivered at $43.84 a ton.

 

Jim Haugh's dump truck is leaking water into oil, park it and sell as is.

 

Need new tires on Arnie's truck.

 

Will put weight limit on Plum Run and Weister Creek Roads early spring when work on CTH D starts.

 

Economic meeting at Viroqua on September 26th, chairman will attend.

 

2 new culverts each installed on Slagle and Zahm Road and 3 new ones on Tunnelville.
