TOWN OF STARK, VERNON COUNTY, WI

 

WEDNESDAY, 21 FEBRUARY 2007

Meeting called to order by town chairman Brad Steinmetz at 7:01 p.m. All other elected officials present with exception of treasurer Bonnie Potter and they were Dwain Jeffers and Myron Richard of the town board and clerk Lonnie Muller.

 

 

 

14 town residents were in attendance.

 

 

 

Verification of proper posting of meeting was confirmed.

 

 

 

Motion by Jeffers, seconded by Richard to approve last month's minutes. All yes. Motion to approve minutes of town caucus with one exception where it stated Myron Richard seconded to close the nomination for supervisor #2, change to unknown as Richard stated he had not 2nd the motion to close.

 

 

 

Motion by Richard, seconded by Jeffers to approve financial report and payment of bills. All yes.

 

 

 

Citizen discussion period: Tom McGee asked about road sign; Koletta Steinmetz had another problem concerning recycling.

 

 

 

Informational Reports: New truck is working ok, lettering for it has been ordered. Chairman had received letter from Governor's office concerning nominations for the Kickapoo Reserve. This will be on next month's agenda as it has a 1 May 07 deadline. Steinmetz, Jeffers, Lonnie Muller and Gail Muller will be attending the Wisconsin Towns Association district meeting at La Crosse; Steinmetz will be attending an all-day Emergency Preparedness meeting March 6th in Viroqua; Jeffers inquired about selling the old truck and inquired about ad in WTA monthly magazine; Steinmetz, Richard, and Muller indicated plans to attend WTA Capitol Days in Madison on March 14th.

 

 

 

Old business: No word on grants for Comprehensive Planning and no new volunteers for committee.

 

 

 

New business:

 

Advertisement for bids for gravel and sealcoating will be done with bid openings at March meeting.

 

Motion by Jeffers, 2nd by Richard to increase the wages to $10 an hour for Koletta Steinmetz effective back to January 1, 2007. All yes.

 

Motion by Richard, 2nd by Jeffers to re-open Star Valley Road on the east side of Highway 131 for a distance of approximately 142 feet that would extend onto the Harris property. All yes.

 

Driveway snow plowing policy: Ok to do Mick's driveway at east end of village as part of earlier policy to plow for emergency situations.

 

Future training meetings were discussed and who planned to attend. There will be one on May 18th at Richland Center for new and continuing officials.

 

It was asked that a vacation time discussion concerning Arnold Hatfield be placed on agenda for next meeting.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:05 p.m. by Jeffers, seconded by Richard. Adjourned.
